White River Soy Processing Acquires Benson Hill Plant for $72M

White River Soy Processing has acquired a processing plant equipped to process both non-GMO and GMO soy meal, soy oil, and food-grade soy white flake, flour, and grits, located in Creson, Iowa, from Benson Hill for $72 million.

This is the second facility acquired by White River from Benson Hill in the last four months, following the purchase of another Benson Hill soy processing plant in Seymore, Indiana, in October 2023 for $36 million.

Benson Hill explained that the divestiture aligns with its strategic asset-light business model transition with an expanded focus on animal feed markets. It also strengthens the company’s balance sheet with lower capital and operating costs while allocating resources to its core competencies as a tech-enabled seed innovation company.
