Scoular Expands Footprint with U.S. Southeast Acquisition
Scoular has expanded its presence in the U.S. Southeast through the acquisition of the assets of Columbia Grain & Ingredients in Lake City and Live Oak, Florida.
Included in the purchase were two facilities that will provide Scoular with anchor locations in the region including feed ingredient and grain handling capabilities, storage space, and a feed mill.
The locations give Scoular upright storage of nearly 600,000 bushels and flat storage of more than 10,000 tons, used mostly to handle corn, bulk ingredients, and micro ingredients. The facilities, which will enable the company to provide just-in-time delivery and strengthen its already existing presence in the region, will be able to load and unload trucks as well as rail cars, with the Lake City site able to handle 135 rail cars.
Scoular has more than 100 offices and facilities in North America and Asia with $6 billion in sales. This deal will serve to add micro-ingredient blending to the company’s services in the region, and includes Columbia’s employee team and transportation fleet.
