RSPO, Global Agtech Firms Launch Upgraded Traceability for Sustainable Palm Oil
The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) announced that a tripartite consortium comprising the agtech firms of Singapore-based Agridence, Netherlands-based CIED, and Australia-based NGIS has secured the tender to launch a unified and optimized system that integrates the certification, trade, and traceability supply chain components into a seamless end-to-end system for RSPO stakeholders.
RSPO’s goal is the development of a unified, bespoke certification, trade, and traceability system (CTTS) to replace its existing IT platform PalmTrace. The evolution of the system is intended to seamlessly integrate data collected at the upstream level through certification, audits, and risk assessment into a secure trading platform for an enhanced user experience for RSPO members (operators and traders).
Importantly, this new platform will also provide information necessary to the due diligence statement required by the European Commission in line with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) by 29 December 2024. And through this transformation project, the partners expect to have a far-reaching impact on not only the palm oil sector, but to set a precedent for other value chains looking to enhance sustainability while meeting regulatory requirements.
