Richardson to Build High Throughput Elevator in Manitoba

Richardson Pioneer Limited (a subsidiary of Richardson International Limited - Canada’s largest agribusiness) announced its plans to build a new high throughput grain elevator in Swan River, Manitoba. The redevelopment project undertaken to replace an existing wood crib at the site will begin this spring and is expected to be completed by August 2022.

Richardson is a global leader in ag and food processing and is a worldwide handler and merchandiser of all major Canadian-grown grains and oilseeds. The company has had a presence in the Swan River Valley for more than 40 years. And as the current wood structure has played an important role in the company’s partnerships with its customers, it is nearly the end of its usefulness.

The new project will include an elevator with 36,600 tons of storage capacity, with the ability to load 150 cars through a loop track design. It also will feature high-speed receiving and loadout, a modern grain cleaning system, and 4,600 square-feet of office space.
