Mondelēz is Expanding Wheat Sustainability Program - Harmony
Mondelēz International is expanding and accelerating its wheat sustainability program, Harmony, through a new stage called Harmony 2030 that will embed regenerative agriculture across several of the company’s key pillars: the environment, farmers, and consumers.
Created in 2008, the Harmony program began with a small number of farms, and has grown to collaborate with 1,360 farmers across seven European countries. Harmony 2030 will implement a “strengthened charter of farming practices” that includes legumes to optimize fertilizer use - one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas emissions from wheat farming. The new stage will also establish the Harmony Academy, which will provide a holistic package of digital and on-the-ground training and tools that will help farmers to record farming practices, calculate environmental impact KPIs, and improve reporting efficiency.
With this enhanced program in place,Mondelēz is aiming to have 100 percent of the wheat volume needed for its European biscuit production to be under its Harmony Regenerative Charter by 2030.
