Lantmännen Investing US$48M in New Facility to be Cornerstone of Sweden’s Grain Infrastructure

Lantmännen is investing half a billion SEK (US$48 million) to begin construction on a new grain reception, drying, and storage facility in Uddevalla, which will be one of the cornerstones of Sweden’s grain infrastructure due to increased export opportunities and higher reception capacity.

Conceptualized as important to the country’s food preparedness, the facility, which is expected to be operational in time for the 2026 harvest, will include 21 silos with two dryers for an estimated turnover of up to 100,000 tons of grain per year.

It also has an attractive port location with access to a deep-water port that allows for the loading of vessels up to 30,000 tons, meaning lower freight costs and the opportunity to reach the U.S. and North African markets, which pay higher prices than destinations within reach of smaller vessels.
