Japan’s Nisshin OilliO Group, J-Oil Mills to Merge Oilseed Processing Businesses

The Nisshin OilliO Group and J-Oil Mills of Japan have announced their intention to spin-off each of their respective oilseed processing businesses into Oilseed Processing Partners Japan, a new joint venture that will be effective as of April 2, 2023.

Prompted by the long-term challenges in the country’s domestic edible oil industry, the partners are taking this measure to ensure stable domestic supplies of oil and meal, to enhance international competitiveness, and to better address domestic environmental and social issues. The venture, which will be located in western Japan, will also promote efforts toward building next generation oilseed processing plants, or smart factories that utilize AI and IoT to better meet ESG requirements and decarbonize society.
