GROWMARK, Legacy Farmers Coop Announce Grain JV

GROWMARK and Legacy Farmers Cooperative have announced the launch of Apex Grain Marketing - a new retail grain unit that will purchase a grain facility west of Defiance, Ohio, from Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. This move by GROWMARK aligns with the objectives outlined in its Grain Division’s 2025 strategic plan to enhance memberships with its members and to expand into new geographies - two points achieved through Apex Grain.

Built in 2013 on 120 acres, the facility consists of a fully automated 2.5 million-bushel upright grain elevator, and 1.3 million-bushel pile capacity that loads 90-car CSX trains. Inbound dumping capacity is 40,000 bushels and load-out speed is 60,000 bushels per hour.

Both GROWMARK and Legacy Farmers Cooperative are committing investments to Apex Grain Marketing, with Legacy providing management services to the unit, and both partners having representatives on its board of directors.
