Ground Truth Raises Seed Funding for In-Field, Lab-Quality Grain Analysis
Saskatchewan-based Ground Truth Agriculture has just raised $4 million in Seed funding to develop technology that will give farmers access to lab-quality grain analysis directly in the field in real time.
Launched in January 2022, Ground Truth Ag’s 15-member team is working to create new jobs in computer vision, mechanical and electrical engineering, software development, and analytical chemistry. In only nine months, the company has already developed a prototype operating for this year’s harvest on Folk’s family farm - the farm of Kyle Folk, CEO of Ground Truth Ag.
Now, instead of taking a sample from a four square-foot area and sending it off to a laboratory hoping for grain analysis reflective of an area thousands of times that size, farmers can gain precise, real time data at the combine, giving them a clear picture by combining bushel per acre yields with grade and quality per acre insights.
