GrainCorp to Add 1 Million Tons of New Storage Before 2021/22 Harvest

GrainCorp is planning to build 1 million tons of new storage capacity across several sites to prepare the company before an anticipated bumper 2021/22 harvest.

Last year, more than 60 of the company’s locations broke all-time receival records, prompting the development of expansion plans, particularly across cropping regions of New South Wales and Victoria, for this year’s harvest.

The company took in approximately 16 million tons from the 2020/21 harvest, exceeding the company’s previous record of 15 million tons received in 2016/17. Additionally, the company is working with local authorities to complete the approval process for re-opening some sites at full operation to accommodate the anticipated demand, and is working to move leftover grain from its previous intake before the new crop is ready.
