Grain Processing Corp. to Acquire Specialty Flour Milling Facility in Iowa

Grain Processing Corporation (GPC) announced its plans to acquire a specialty flour milling, production, and warehousing facility in Oskaloosa, Iowa, for an undisclosed amount.

Located on 35 acres, the facility is 64,000 square feet and is currently producing mostly corn-based products. GPC stated that it is still considering future plans for the site, noting that it will initially serve as an extension of Natural Products - a soy and chickpea milling operation acquired by GPC in July of this year as an investment in sustainable food production that gave GPC access to plant-based, non-GMO, organic, and gluten-free ingredient solutions.

Traditionally, GPC has focused on corn starches, high-purity alcohols, maltodextrins, and corn syrup solids, but this acquisition may indicate a shift toward clean-label and plant-based foods. Jimmy Kent, president of GPC, noted that the company will be better able to leverage its soy and chickpea flour production capabilities to expand on its value-added milling business.
