Equinom, AGT Partner on Minimally Processed Plant-Based Functional Ingredients

Food tech company Equinom is partnering with AGT Food and Ingredients - one of the largest providers of value-added plant-based food products and ingredients in the world - to accelerate the development, validation, and commercialization of co-branded functional ingredients produced from Equinom’s ultra-high protein yellow peas.

Using its proprietary Manna technology, Equinom breeds better crops by analyzing data from thousands of seed varieties to identify those with desirable traits for food applications, then breeds new crop varieties that are efficient to produce and deliver desirable taste, texture, and performance without genetic engineering.

Together, the companies will work to build a portfolio of minimally processed plant protein ingredients that improve the taste, nutrition, accessibility, and carbon footprint of foods and beverages without the use of processing aids ro chemical compounds that add cost and complexity while hindering sustainability.

Under the terms of the agreement Equinom will provide AGT with its ultra-high protein yellow peas and AGT will apply its expertise in pulses fractionation, processing, production, and marketing to expand its portfolio of non-GMO, gluten-free, and hypoallergenic plant-based protein concentrates, flours, and starches.
