CHS Broadbent to Build New 80,000-Ton Grain Export Terminal in Victoria, Australia
CHS Broadbent, a 50:50 joint venture between the Broadbent family and CHS that owns and operates grain storage, container packing, and grain freight operations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, Australia, announced its plans to build a new 80,000-ton bulk grain export terminal in Geelong, Victoria. The project has been made possible by CHS Broadbent and Midway Limited entering a land sale agreement for five hectares of the Midway Limited site at North Shore, Geelong.
Construction on-site is expected to begin in 2024, with the terminal being owned and operated by CHS Broadbent, which stated that the terminal will increase competition and extend its supply chains in the Asia-Pacific region, providing more opportunities for grain growers to connect to international markets.
The facility will be designed with an annual export capacity of 1.5 million metric tons with expectations that in an average year it will export approximately 1 million tons, which equates to about 13 turns per year.
