Cargill Launches RegenConnect to Scale Regenerative Ag And Connect Farmers to Carbon Markets

Cargill is implementing RegenConnect, a new regenerative agriculture program that connects farmers to the growing carbon marketplace and scales the voluntary adoption of regenerative agricultural practices, while offering simplicity, transparency, and flexibility.

Beginning this fall, farmers enrolled in RengenConnect will integrate regenerative practices of their choice, such as cover crops or reduced or no-till planting, over the course of the coming growing season.

From there, Cargill has partnered with the carbon measurement company Regrow to make it easy for farmers to measure, report, and verify (MRV) carbon outcomes using in-field data, remote sensing, and crop and soil health tracking.

The RegenConnect program then connects farmers with Cargill’s downstream customers who are looking to achieve their carbon reduction benchmarks through agricultural supply chains.

The goal of this program is not to add an extra burden to farmers, but to deliver both profitability and positive environmental impacts.

A study backed by Cargill researchers and conducted by The Soil Health Institute found that soil health management increased incomes for 85 percent of corn farmers, and 88 percent of soybean farmers. Average income for corn growers increased by $52 per acre, and for soybean farmers, $45 per acre.
