Bunge, Chevron Invest in New Oilseed Crop
Bunge and Chevron’s Renewable Energy Group, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has acquired Argentinian oilseed seed business Chacraservicious from Italy-based Adamant Group.
Chacraservicios is focused on the cultivation of Camelina Sativa, a cover crop with high oil content that benefits farmers, consumers, and the environment. This latest seed investment adds a new oil source for Bunge and Chevron’s global supply chains and will help both companies meet the growing demand for lower carbon renewable feedstocks.
Fernando Candia, Bunge’s vicr president of Carbon Solutions, commented that investing in this new oilseed crop is an additional step toward reaching its goal of expanding the availability of lower carbon intensity feedstocks, and enables the partners to bring innovative crop solutions to farmers and process it into sustainable solutions for consumers.
