Bunge Chevron Ag Renewables to Build Oilseed Processing Plant in Louisiana

Bunge and Chevron announced that their joint venture Bunge Chevron Renewables is to build a new oilseed processing plant adjacent to its existing facility on the Gulf Coast in Destrehan, Louisiana.

Bunge Chevron Renewables is focused on developing renewable feedstocks by leveraging Bunge’s expertise in oilseed processing and farmer relations with Chevron’s expertise in renewable fuels production and marketing. Through their joint venture, Bunge operates the processing plants in Destrehan, Louisiana, and Cairo, Illinois, and Chevron has buying rights to the oil to use as feedstock to make low-carbon transportation fuels.

The facility will have a flexible aspect to it, allowing it to process soybeans as well as soft seeds including novel winter oilseed crops such as winter canola dn CoverCress, among others. Once online in 2026, the plant will not only produce meal products, but will add scale and efficiencies to Bunge Chevron Renewables, boosting it in its goal to meet demand for renewable fuels.
