ADM, Cargill Newest Investors in Insect Protein Company Innovafeed

ADM and Cargill are two of the newest investors in insect protein company Innovafeed. The two participated in a $250 million Series D for the company that was led by Qatar Investment Authority, and also included Creadev, Temasek, Future French Champions, ABC Impact, IDIA Capital Investissement, and Grow Forward.

Launched in France in 2016 by three co-founders: Aude Guo, Bastien Oggeri and Clément Ray, Innovafeed stated that it reproduces nature’s processes on an industrial scale by building a circular and zero-waste agrifood chain replicating the insect’s natural role.

The company’s products include insect protein for aquaculture, insect oil for pigs and poultry, and 100 percent natural fertilizer from insect droppings. It also offers its protein and oil for pet food. For these products, Innovafeed stated that it has already secured commercial partnerships for volumes representing more than €1 billion (US$1 billion) over the next 10 years.
