Legacy Seed Announces Former Managing Director with Syngenta Ventures, Colin Steen, as New CEO
Legacy Seed Companies announced Colin Steen has been appointed to the role of CEO, effective July 6, 2020. Steen’s placement was facilitated by leading food, agribusiness, and biosciences executive search firm Kincannon & Reed, which undertook a national search on behalf of Legacy. Steen is taking up the reins from company founder Bruce Ceranske, who will remain active in his role as vice chairman on the Board of Directors.
An industry veteran of more than 25 years, Steen comes to Legacy from Syngenta Ventures where he served as managing director. Prior to Syngenta, Steen held executive positions managing the Golden Harvest corn and soybean business in the Midwest, and heading up the NK Seed business for Syngenta, working closely with top retailers across the U.S.
As CEO with Legacy, Steen will be responsible for leading all commercial, administrative, operations, and financial aspects of the organization, and will be tasked with working with the board to create strategic goals for the company.
