Heartland Co-op Acquires AGP’s Texas and New Mexico Grain and Processed Corn Business
Heartland Co-op has finalized the acquisition of the grain and processed corn business of AGP Grain Marketing, a subsidiary of AGP Processing Inc, located in Texas and New Mexico.
Heartland was formed in 1987 through the merger of three cooperatives, and has since expanded to 71 locations providing feed and value-added services to more than 5,800 members. The Texas and New Mexico-based assets were acquired in 2002 by AGP, an agribusiness that primarily operates as a U.S. soybean processor and refiner, producing and marketing soybean meal, refined soybean oil, and biodiesel. AGP also operates U.S.-based grain elevators, and trades agricultural products in both domestic and international markets. As it is owned by local and regional cooperatives, AGP stated that it is satisfied that the assets in question will remain in the cooperative system under Heartland, and is assured that they will continue to provide high-quality feed and services to the region’s dairy, livestock, and grain customers.
