Wilbur-Ellis Acquires Aquaculture, Livestock Feed Producer, Rangen

Wilbur-Ellis is expanding into aquaculture and livestock feed with the acquisition of Idaho-based Rangen, a privately-owned feed producer that has been in Wilbur-Ellis’ sights for several years.

In business for 90 years, Rangen launched its feed business in 1925, and added its aquaculture division in 1950. The company has aquaculture and general feed production facilities in Buhl, Idaho, and Angleton, Texas, and its acquisition is a strategic fit for Wibur-Ellis, as it will give the company a nationwide platform from where to expand in one of the fastest-growing global feed markets, and expands Wilbur-Ellis’ branded and custom-formulated feed options.

The aquaculture feed business produces high-quality rations for trout, salmon, and shrimp - all healthy foods in high consumer demand, and part of an industry that is environmentally sustainable, given its highly efficient feed conversion ratio compared to other animal protein categories.
