Grain Farmers of Ontario Looking to Name New CEO
Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO), the largest commodity organization in the province, is looking to name a new CEO as its first CEO, Barry Senft, announced he is stepping down in April 2020.
Senft has held the position since 2009, when a merger happened between Ontario’s corn, soy, and wheat grower groups under the single GFO name. During his tenure, barley and oat growers eventually joined the group, making it the largest commodity group in the province.
Prior to his position as CEO of the GFO, Senft was the executive director of the Canadian International Grains Institute from 2002-2009; the chief commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission from 1997-2002; and vice president of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool from 1993-1997.
The group representing 28,000 growers says that the search for a new CEO is beginning immediately.
