Richardson is Upgrading in Alberta with Construction of New Elevator
Richardson Pioneer, a global handler and merchandiser of of all major Canadian-grown grains, announced its plans to build a new high-throughput grain elevator in High Level, Alberta. Construction has already begun at the site and is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2020.
The facility will be better able to serve Richardson’s solid customer base in the area, replacing the company’s existing wood crib elevator currently in High Level that has storage capacity of 6,500 tons. Plans for the new elevator, which will be served by the Canadian National Railway (CN), includes storage for 32,000 tons of grain, and a loop track for the loading of 135 railcars.
Once operational, the new site will work closely with Richardon’s La Crete crop inputs business, which was recently acquired from AgLand Seed and Chemical in February of this year. In total, Richardson has 71 grain facilities with a combined storage capacity of 95.7 million bushels, and 2,600 global employees.
