USGC Names New President and CEO
The U.S. Grain Council (USGC) has named Ryan LeGrand, current council director in Mexico, as is next president and chief executive officer. The appointment will be effective in mid-June.
LeGrand joined the USGC team in 2015, and has been head of the Council’s Mexico City office since 2016. Prior to joining the USGC, he was director of ingredients in Mexico for Gavilon, managing the company’s feed ingredients trading, importation, and distribution. Before Gavilon, LeGrand served as director of exports for Hawkeye Gold, exporting DDGS to Latin America and Asia.
Since joining the USGC, he has overseen the expansion of the USGC’s program in the country, including the support and maintenance of relations between Mexico and the U.S.; the promotion of ethanol in Mexico; and ensured good relations between the U.S. and Mexican feed and livestock industries during the establishment of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
During his time in Mexico City, LeGrand also promoted U.S. grains resulting in increased demand for U.S. DDGs, increased barley purchases of U.S. barley by Mexican craft breweries, and increased sorghum use by Mexican livestock producers.
