Grain Handler and Ethanol Producer Green Plains Launches Aquafeed JV with Optimal Fish Food
Green Plains, a global leader in ethanol production, and operations related to grain handling and storage, commodity marketing, logistics, and cattle feeding, announced the formation of Optimal Aquafeed - a 50/50 joint venture with Optimal Fish Food.
Through the new business the partners aim to produce high-quality aquaculture feeds using high-protein ingredients and proprietary processes. Bringing together plant-based proteins, algae, and other single-cell protein ingredients, Optimal Aquafeed plans to make next-generation feeds for one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.
The joint venture will combine the production capabilities, commodity expertise, and back office knowledge of Green Plains, with the intellectual property, and customer relations experience of Optimal Fish Foods to maximize the value of its products and mitigate market volatility in the future.
