P&H Ltd. to Build New Grain Terminal in British Columbia
Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H Ltd.) announced its plans to build a new grain export facility in Surrey, British Columbia. P&H states that it is making the investment and building the facility to address two constraints: a lack of industrial land for grain handling, and limited rail capacity in Western Canada.
The terminal, which will be called the Fraser Grain Terminal, will include modern grain storage facilities, three shiploaders equipped with dust-reducing technology, and a fully-enclosed, above-ground conveyor system with built-in dust suppression.
Construction of the new facility, which will provide 4 million tons of terminal capacity, is expected to begin late this year, and will likely take two years to complete. Once operational, the existing mobile shiploader in place will be decommissioned, and the existing smaller facility will be converted to handling only pelleted protein products.
