Union County Grain to Build New Grain Elevator, Terminal in Kentucky
Union Country Grain Company announced its plans to build a new grain elevator and terminal on the Ohio River in Union County, Kentucky - one of the top five corn-growing counties in the state.
The project, which represents one of the largest investments made in the country in decades, will entail capital costs between $7 million and $12 million. The new state-of-the-art elevator will have a capacity of 1.2 million bushels; will have dual 24,000 bushels-per-hour dumps, and a 65,000 bushels-per-hour load-out capacity by truck or overland belt.
The terminal, which will have offloading capabilities for several commodities, will be connected to the storage facility by a 42-inch belt line, and will have dual 65,000 bushels-per-hour truck dumps.
The elevator and river terminal, which will be located at River Mile Marker 870 in Dekoven, Kentucky, is expected to be able to accept grain by the fall of 2019.
