Limagrain Acquires Unicorn Grain Specialties

Limagrain announced on May 22 that it has reached an agreement to acquire Unicorn Grain Specialities from Nordian Capital for an undisclosed amount.

Unicorn is a market leader in the cereals and pulses ingredients sector in the Northern European region, using heat treatment technology to conduct cooking-extrusion, flaking, and to produce puffed cereals. These products are then supplied to customers in the bakery, snacking, breakfast cereal, ready meals, and animal nutrition industries. Through its business, Unicorn generates €150 million (US$173.3 million).

The addition of Unicorn to Limagrains’ business portfolio will strengthen Limagrains’ position in Europe’s cereal ingredients sector, and will result in the group processing more than 330,000 tons of grain per year across seven production sites.
