New Joint Venture to Build State-of-the-Art Dry Mill Ethanol Plant in Kansas
The Andersons and ICM have partnered to create ELEMENT LLC, a strategic joint venture that is planning the construction of the most efficient dry mill ethanol plant in the U.S.
Located in Colwich, Kansas, the technologically advanced facility will combine ICM’s cutting-edge equipment with The Anderson’s expertise in risk management, merchandising, and logistics to produce 70 million gallons of ethanol per year.
The plant will be an industry leader in cellulosic ethanol production using corn kernel fiber as feedstock, and at full capacity will be able to yield more than 3.1 gallons per bushel. It also will feature heat and power generation from waste wood, advanced corn oil production, high protein DDGs, and carbon intensity scores for corn and cellulosic ethanol production that will prove to be industry-leading.
The ethanol produced in Kansas will be sold mainly in California to meet the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, but also will be sold in additional markets that are working to meet low carbon benchmarks.
