Tyson signs agreement to purchase three of The Andersons grain elevators

In its efforts to continue expansion in Tennessee and secure vital inputs, Tyson Foods Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to purchase three commercial grain elevators from the Grain Group of The Andersons Inc. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“This project will help secure vital inputs for us, and position us to grow and support our customers,” Doug Ramsey, group president of poultry for Tyson Foods, said in a press release. “We look forward to creating more direct relationships with the grain producers in the area.”

The elevators, which will support Tyson Foods’ existing operation in Union City as well as its planned chicken complex in Humboldt, are located in Dyer, Humboldt, and Kenton. About 20 employees of The Andersons will be transitioned to Tyson.

The transaction is expected to be finalized next month.
