ADM Begins Non-GMO Soy Crush in Germany
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has begun crushing non-GMO soybeans at its facility in Spyck, Germany, which had previously only crush rape and sunflower seeds.
The switch in operations is part of the company’s long-term strategic plan involving increasing its European capacity for processing soy, which it sees as supporting the region’s farmers, enabling better service to European soymeal customers, and leading to an increase in soybean acreage in the region as demand continues to climb across Europe for non-GMO ingredients and food products. The added flexibility is also expected to enable the group to more rapidly react to shift market dynamics.
The group is also currently crushing non-GMO soy at its location in Straubing, Germany, and has been working with local enterprises and farmers to create further opportunities for soybeans across northwest Europe.
