Sixth Largest U.S. Poultry Producer Building $55M Feed Mill

Wayne Farms LLC, the sixth largest poultry producer in the U.S., is undertaking a $200 million investment project, of which $55 million is allocated to the construction of a 49,000 square-foot feed mill in Ozark, Alabama.

The new facility, which will be the largest start-up mill in the country, will have a production capacity of 25,000 tons per week to support the needs of three local fresh chicken processing plants in Union Springs, Alabama; Jack, Alabama; and Dothan, Alabama.

The facility will include 1 million bushels of bulk corn storage, 4,200 tons of soybean meal storage, and two DDGs silos with 1,300 and 1,250 pounds of storage respectively; a loop track that can handle 100-car trains; and three receiving pits.

The construction of the mill, which is expected to be completed before the 2017 harvest, is also an exercise in efficiency for Wayne Farms, as the one state-of-the-art mill will replace three outdated mills located in Troy, Alabama; DeFuniak Springs, Florida; and Enterprise, Alabama.
