Viterra Acquires Gavilon Grain Assets

Viterra USA announced it has acquired grain handling assets from Gavilon Grain located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, as the company continues to deepen its presence in the U.S.

The location, which belonged to the Peavey Co. before being acquired by Gavilon in 2008, has the ability to load up to 110 railcars on the BSNF Railway and includes two truck receiving pits, a grain dryer, and storage capacity of 140,000 tons.

Viterra states that it plans to make capital investments to fund upgrades to the facility, which joins Viterra’s existing North Dakota holdings - specialty crop facilities in Ray, and a stake in a joint venture with General Mills in Northgate.
