Origin Gains Access to DuPont Pioneer’s Non-GMO Corn Seed

Beijing -based agricultural biotech and seed company, Origin Agritech Ltd, and DuPont Pioneer have signed an agreement giving Origin access to DuPont’s non-GMO corn seed products.

Founded in 1997, Origin specializes in the breeding of crop seeds, the development of genetic improvements, seed production, processing, distribution, and technical services. The company has developed a strong biotechnology seed pipeline resulting in vertically integrated product lines for canola, corn, and rice, and was the first company to receive the Bio-Safety Certificate from China’s Ministry of Agriculture for its phytase corn.

The agreement is the second business agreement between the two companies after their agreement of April 2016 to jointly develop new seed technologies in China for use by Chinese farmers. It is also key to the launch of Origin’s North American Pillar III strategy that will center of serving the North American non-GMO and organic markets.
