Australia Specialty Grain Company Backed by Japan’s Teijin Group

The Healthy Grain, an Australian specialty grain company that specializes in the contract production and sale of non-GMO grains with sought-after nutritional properties including BARLEYmax, a high-fiber barley variety used to support digestive health, has secured an investment of $8 million from Japanese global corporation, the Teijin Group in exchange for a 30 percent stake in the company.

The Healthy Grain also gained the right to produce and sell a hull-less variety of Kebari barley, the world’s first gluten-free barley variety developed by Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), which remains one third owner of The Health Grain along with the Australian public.
