Monsanto Launches Grain Pricing App

Monsanto has launched Grain Gauge, a mobile app that provides farmers with a range of current cash grain price bids.

Historically, Monsanto has had no ball in the game of grain trading, however, the company launched this app to support and promote genetically modified canola containing its RoundUp Ready trait after growers claimed they weren’t growing the variety due to the discount to conventional canola. After investigating, Monsanto found that the price differential was not as large as growers thought and wanted to spread this knowledge.

The company decided to include daily prices for a range of grains including RR canola, wheat, barley, oats, cotton, and sorghum to attract greater grower interest in the application.

The app is powered by the grain market information business, Lachstock Consulting, and is available for Apple and Android devices.
