Miller Milling Expanding Texas Flour Mill

Miller Milling announced it is beginning the expansion of production capacity at its flour mill in Saginaw, Texas. The project will make Saginaw the company’s second largest flour mill after its Winchester, Virginia mill, which has a daily capacity of 26,500 hundredweight (cwts), and will make it the second largest such mill in the state of Texas after the Ardent Mills flour mill, which is also located in Saginaw and which produces 26,000 cwts per day.

Miller Milling plans to construct a new milling unit on site with a capacity of 10,000 cwts, bringing the site’s daily production capacity to 24,000 cwts – an increase in output of 70 percent.

The project will also double the Saginaw mill’s packaging capacity and warehouse space as the company aims to keep pace with population growth.

“Texas is one of the fastest growing areas of the country, and population growth means increased demand for flour,” Jeffrey Thomas, vice president of operations at Miller Milling told Baking Business.
