Perdue AgriBusiness Acquires 10 Grain Elevators from Southern States

Perdue AgriBusiness has agreed to purchase 10 of the 12 Mid-Atlantic grain elevators it had been leasing from Richmond, Virginia-based farm services co-op, Southern States since 2002. The company will continue leasing the additional two elevators.

The 12 elevators, which combined have the capacity to store 10 million bushels of grain, are located in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Perdue AgriBusiness, which is part of Perdue Farms, is an international agricultural services and product company that sources, processes, and merchandizes agricultural commodities with a network of 46 grain storage facilities that have a total storage capacity of 58.2 million bushels.

Established in 1923, Southern States is a co-operative owned by more than 200,000 farmer-members that provides fertilizers, seeds, feed, animal health supplies, pet food and petroleum products through its 1,200 retail outlets in 23 states.
