TruHorizons Opens $30M Grain Elevator in Indiana

TruHorizons, a joint venture created last year that will bring together the Indiana grain and agronomy operation of Cargill and Trupointe Cooperative, has officially opened its new $30 million grain elevator outside of Milford, Indiana.

The elevator includes eight concrete silos and two steel bins with a storage capacity of 4.33 million bushels of corn, soybeans, and wheat.

The facility has rail access and state-of-the-art equipment that can rapidly unload and load trucks and railcars giving the region’s farmers the ability to gain access to global grain markets.

“It’s going to allow them to be able to come and take their grain to a rail loading facility that can get grain to the southeastern United States to the poultry and the pork industry or down to the gulf of Mexico where they can be loaded on a ship and go all over the world,” Leland Hartstack, General Manager of the TruHorizons facility told WNDU.

TruHorizons hopes that the ability to ship grain to high demand regions of the U.S. and to gulf ports for shipment to overseas buyers will drive an increase in the value of local grain and higher prices for growers.

“TruHorizons will connect farmers with the best-in-class service from a dedicated team. This team is dedicated to helping the farmers of northern Indiana succeed,” Ben Breazeale, regional manager of Cargill’s eastern region told Hoosier Ag Today.
