Olam Creates New Position; Makes Senior Management Shifts

Olam International announced that A. Shekhar, Executive Director, Finance & Business Development for the group, has been promoted to the newly created position of Executive Director & Group Chief Operating Officer effective February 1, 2016.

In this new position, Shekhar will assist Olam’s co-founder and chief executive, Sunny Verghese in overseeing Olam’s entire business interests.

Shekhar, who has a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering, a master’s degree in business administration, and has completed the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, has been with Olam for 24 years, serving in multiple capacities through Regional, Business Unit and Functional positions.

In addition, Olam has also announced that Neelamani Muthukumar has been appointed the group’s Chief Financial Officer effective immediately.

Muthukumar is an Associate Member of the Institute of Costs and Works Accountants of India, and has a bachelor’s degree in Science. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program from the Wharton Business School. Having been with the group for more than 18 years, Mr. Muthukumar currently serves as the President and Global Head of Corporate Finance.
