Ceres Advancing Work on $90 Million Saskatchewan Grain Hub
Work is progressing on Ceres Global Ag Corp’s $90 million grain handling and loading terminal being constructed to service the U.S. market, in Northgate, Saskatchewan.
The 2.2 million bushel grain elevator at the site is currently being constructed, and the rail line is looping into the logistics center where The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad can load 60 grain cars per week at a temporary loading facility bordering the U.S. To date, more than 700 grain and oilseed rail cars have been loaded since the facility began operations this past January.
The Northgate facility has shipped loads of spring wheat, durum, and oats to U.S. millers, and has just begun adding canola shipments as well.
The total budget for the complete construction of the facility is $90 million, and Ceres states that the project is advancing within budget. The grain elevator is scheduled to be fully operational and offering a full range of services by this fall. By October 15 the facility should be receiving grain at its main terminal, and additional services including cleaners should be available by the end of March 2016.
