Blumberg Grain Exploring Investments in India
Blumberg Grain, producer of crop storage and supply chain solutions, is looking to develop a manufacturing facility in India.
Driven by India’s strategic plan for food security, Blumberg is looking at a series of investments throughout the agricultural value chain beginning with a manufacturing plant and export hub for their warehousing systems. It is estimated that the venture will have an economic impact of $1 billion in the first year alone, and a $5 billion impact over the next five years. Additional investments and growth in downstream processing and upstream high-yield farming are also expected to be a result.
Blumberg is also exploring collaboration with private Indian warehousing businesses and corporations owned by state agencies to upgrade and modernize India’s food value chain through the addition of state-of-the-art storage and warehousing systems.
India suffers over 20 million tons of post-harvest wheat losses per year, and Blumberg Grain’s warehousing solutions can potentially reduce these losses to less than 5% of production – significantly improving India’s food security scenario while also benefitting the country’s consumers through lower food prices, and its farmers through better prices for their crops.
