Thresher Artisan Wheat Announces Upgrades to Idaho Grain Assets

Agspring subsidiary, Thresher Artisan Wheat, has announced multiple projects to significantly improve its grain handling, storage, processing, origination, and logistics in Idaho following its merging with Agspring acquisition, Moreland Grain and Seed.

“The extensive list of capital improvements we have embarked upon, including some we’ve already completed, will make a significant difference for our growers, customers and partners for years to come,” said Don Wille, CEO of Thresher Artisan Wheat.

Thesher’s operational headquarters at Blackfoot will be receiving upgrades to double the plant’s conditioning capacity, new screening equipment, and x-ray technology to scan for foreign materials moving through the supply chain.

Upgrades at the group’s Moreland facility acquired earlier this year include IT systems and process improvements to enhance efficiency and yield, and new safety equipment.

More than half of the storage capacity at the group’s Newdale facility is being completely restructured to allow for more grain storage, and improved truck flow. In addition, automated radio frequency identification (RFID) scales are being added to the site, as well as two new truck routes.

The Rockford facility is receiving a new RFID system, which will allow for eliminating paper scale tickets and will increase the automation and speed of the site’s grain delivery process. The American Falls location is also being expanded to include a new satellite location on site with a 1.5 million bushel dump facility, new bunkers, and a 25,000 bushel per hour conveyor belt.
